The Chief of Tainso, a suburb of Nsawkaw in the Tain District of the Brong Ahafo Region, Nana Yaw Bediako II has charged police to demonstrate high level of professionalism in dealing with situations.
According to him, he is much disappointed in the indiscipline act and behavior put up by the police in his community.
The police patrol team from the Tain District Command last Friday, 6th April 2018 heavily descended on the people of Tainso and brutalized them for allegedly constructing unlawful speed humps.
Speaking to Arkfm’s Akroma Deefuor the Chief of Tainso, Nana Yaw Bediako II noted that, the women were only embarking on safeguarding operations to save lives from frequent knock down of persons by vehicles in the community.
He revealed that seven persons have been knocked down in the community between 2017 and 2018.
He said the construction of the speed humps was done when a car knocked down a five-year old son of a blind woman, Emmanuel Twum who assists the mother in her daily routines on Thursday, 5th April, 2018.
Debunking the allegation that drivers and passengers who plied the route at the time were bullied by the town folks, Nana Bediako said, none of his subjects bullied anyone.
Nana Yaw Bediako II therefore called on IGP, COP David Asante Appeatu and the government to usher police personnel into high standard of professionalism to help protect lives and properties.
Nana Bediako II disclosed that they were permitted by the Tain District assembly following a letter wrote to the assembly dated 23rd December, 2013 to construct a speed humps to avert any knockdowns by over speeding drivers.
