General News of Sun, 10 Dec 201772 Rape suspect faces threatening health condition; on oxygen support Rabih Haddad's lawyer says he has a serious medical condition The Lebanese man, Rabih Haddad, 39, who is said to have allegedly raped his 19-year-old Ghanaian house help at his home at the Airport Hills Residential area in Accra, is said to be on oxygen support at the Ridge hospital. A bail application by Mr Raphael Poku-Edusei, the lawyer for Rabih Haddad, was on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, thrown out by the Accra Central District Magistrate Court presided over by Arit Nsemoh on the basis that it lacked jurisdiction to grant bail. Mr Edusei had made a passionate appeal for bail for his client, arguing that Haddad had a serious medical condition and would die if remanded in police custody. GERMANY PRESIDENT TO VISIT GHANA

The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is expected to pay a state visit to Ghana from 11th to 13th December, 2017. President Steinmeier is to be accompanied by the Federal Minister of Economy and Energy, Mrs Brigitte Zypries, the Deputy Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, Friedrich Kitschelt, the State Minister at the German Foreign Office, Maria Böhmer as well as a substantial business delegation and guests from civil society. He is also expected to be accompanied by 17 representatives of German companies that are working to realise Germany’s commitment under the G20 Compact with Africa to bring more investment to Ghana. Donald Trump signs a visa-free travel policy for Ghana The United States President, Donald Trump has signed an executive order to allow all Ghana nationals travel to the United States without visas. The new order, serving as a change in visa policy for Ghanaians traveling to the United States, would permit them stay in the U.S for a maximum period of 180 days for Tourism or Business purposes only. Stay over 180 days would therefore require a visa. Trump says this measure is to strengthen trade between the United States and Ghana. However, Ghanaians who hold dual nationality will be banned from entering the United States if their other passport is from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen — the seven Muslim-majority countries “of concern”. I never dreamt of becoming an actress - Gloria Sarfo

Ghanaian actress, Gloria Sarfo has revealed that though acting was not her childhood dream as she preferred becoming a newscaster or a TV presenter, she has come to love playing roles in movies. According to her, growing up, she was so obsessed with news casting that she used to read news to her siblings for them to mark her but she had to change her path as she got older. She made the revelation when she appeared on Yvonne Okoro’s “Dining With Cooks And Braggarts” TV Show last week. Recounting some of her challenges as an actress, she revealed there was a time she had to let an actor rinse his mouth with mouthwash before they kissed as part of the movie. Explaining how she managed to let the colleague do that, the TV3 Music Music presenter said she also rinsed her mouth with the wash in order to make the act comfortable.
